Berklee Summer Concert Series with Miette Hope

  • Derby Square Salem, Ma. 01970 (map)

Miette Hope is a 21 year old singer-songwriter from Colorado Springs attending her final year at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA as the first ever Vans off the Wall Presidential Scholar. She grew up in Colorado Springs, CO and began her musical journey at the age of 7, when she started studying piano. She has been writing songs since the age of ten, after taking up the guitar and started playing live in her mom's folk band singing back up harmonies by the age of 11. Since moving to Boston, she has performed and collaborated and recorded with local bands, Aüva, Maddie Jay and the PH Collective. Aüva performed at the Berklee/Vanyaland SXSW event in Austin, TX, opened for Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys at the New Hampshire Pavilion and has played many venues around MA. They have released 2 EP's and and album over the past 3 years. Maddie Jay and the PH collective has performed in Boston, Canada, and RI and released a full album last year.
Along with involvement in these projects Miette formed a five piece band to accompany her original songs and went on her first tour of the U.S. winter of 2014 preceding the release of her first EP. Her style can best be identified by it’s lush vocal harmonies over spatially rhythmic grooves with influence from soul, jazz and pop. Her songs are an embodied expression of the beauty in life's trials and triumphs. With emotionally honest lyrics complimenting infectious melodies, her music will move your body and your soul. Thanks to Flatbread Salem for sponsoring this concert.
